Volunteer as a Creative Team Member for High-Impact Cultural Events!

Location: Southern California (LA County & Inland Empire)
Time Commitment Options:

  • Flexible, project-based (5–10 hours/month)

  • Six month internship. Internship eligible for a one-time $500 professional development stipend through the Empowerment Fund. The stipend supports participation in a learning-centered internship and is not tied to hourly work.

Are you a photographer, videographer, graphic designer, editor, or creative technician passionate about culture, community, and storytelling? Join our Creative Team and help shape the visual heartbeat of Diaspora Peoples’ Place — the organization behind The Peoples Marketplace and the Sumood Series.

Our creative volunteers document, design, and elevate the powerful cultural moments that unfold in our spaces. You’ll support mission-driven gatherings that uplift diaspora communities, honor lived experience, and build pathways for healing, joy, and resistance.

This is a great opportunity to build your portfolio, collaborate with mission-aligned creatives, and contribute your craft to events grounded in justice, culture, and community care.

What You’ll Do

Depending on your specialty, you may:

  • Photograph or film vendors, performances, community interactions, and event ambiance

  • Capture behind-the-scenes moments + vertical content for social media

  • Edit photos, videos, or audio into polished deliverables

  • Design graphics for events, announcements, and digital storytelling

  • Support sound setup, audio checks, and live event recording

  • Assist with lighting, on-site content capture, or media workflow

  • Collaborate with our production and media leads to maintain a cohesive visual identity
